Aston Martin revealed an all-new version of its most affordable model Tuesday. Now there's a new Vantage and it stands out even more from the DB11, and it does it with 503 horsepower.
If Aston Martin were looking to cause a bit of commotion then they've certainly done that with the unveiling of their next generation Vantage sports vehicle.
David King, president of Aston Martin Racing, said: "Motorsport is fundamental to the DNA of Aston Martin and our commitment to the FIA World Endurance Championship is stronger than ever". This new Vantage finally puts some distinguishing space between it and the DB11, to the point where it may actually be the more compelling vehicle. Furthermore, the minimal front design and rear overhangs muscular flanks and broad haunches add to the sporty character of the vehicle.
As far as famous Aston Martins go, the DB line is probably the most well-known.
The vehicle is more focused than related DB11 series, Powered by 4.0L twin-turbo V8 that generates 505 pound-feet of torque, enough to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.6 seconds and produced by Mercedes-Benz.
The British marque highlights its new design with features such as a more "predatory stance" with "minimal front and rear overhangs, muscular flanks and broad haunches" to express a new dynamic aesthetic. But this isn't just a new body on the old race car's chassis.
The photos of the Vantage's show an eye-catching interior that looks as stunning as anything we've seen from Lamborghini or Ferrari in recent years. Additionally, there is a bunch of rotary and toggle style tactile controls that make driving the vehicle all the more intuitive. It is linked to the car's electronic stability control system and can understand the car's behaviour, and react accordingly to direct the engine's power to the relevant wheel.
This lower-in-the-range model sees that aforementioned V8 pushed as far back in the chassis as possible, giving the 1,530-kg (3,373-lb) auto a ideal 50-50 weight distribution.
Power comes from a redeveloped Mercedes-AMG turbocharged V8 engine, which can produce in excess of 536bhp and 700Nm of torque depending on boost.
The new Vantage's front end is dominated by the lowest-sited functioning grille to have been used on a mainstream production Aston Martin.
Meanwhile, if you're looking to get your hands on the 510 hp toy, you should be prepared to pay at least $149,995 for the thing. Each makes the car's performance, and its engine sound, more aggressive.
