Keeping behind the acrimonious war of words in the campaign for Gujarat polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday urged all political parties to extend co-operation for smooth conduct of the Winter session of Parliament getting underway on Friday and pressed for a "national consensus" on the issue of simultaneous elections in the country.
Modi has been pushing for simultaneous polls, saying an nearly uninterrupted cycle of polls across the country hampers Government works due to enforcement of model code of conduct and deployment of officials in elections.
Congress leaders raised the issue of Modi's allegations during a speech in Gujarat that Singh colluded with Pakistan to influence the Gujarat Assembly polls, and said they will raise it in Parliament.
