Florida State University has hired a replacement for former head coach Jimbo Fisher.

Taggart confirmed the agreement to ESPN, and the school has scheduled a news conference for 11 a.m. Wednesday to introduce him.

However, to many Florida State fans, this may seem like a questionable hire. While Taggart is said to have been happy in his first year at OR, he is a Florida native and could not pass up the opportunity to coach one of the biggest programs in his home state. Fisher resigned Friday to accept the opening at Texas A&M. Taggart also coached running backs at Stanford under Jim Harbaugh. After ending WKU's 26-game losing streak and going 2-10 in his first season, he made strides while going 7-5 in both 2011 and 2012.

Florida State will play Southern Miss in the Independence Bowl, while OR faces off against Boise State in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman said the missile strike targeted a military base near Kesweh, south of Damascus. Satellite images commissioned by the BBC show construction activity at the site from January to October, 2017.

The Florida State football program has its new leader.

OR started this past season 4-1 and even briefly popped into the AP rankings, but starting quarterback Justin Herbert broke his collarbone and the Ducks floundered, going 1-4 without him. When Herbert returned, the Ducks won their final two games over Arizona and rival Oregon State to clinch a bowl berth.

His record was an impressive 25-9 his past three seasons of coaching, and he earned his teams three consecutive bowl berths. He returns to his hometown of Florida where he coached at the University of South Florida from 2013 to 2016.

Taggart is considered a skilled recruiter, and given his ties to Florida, he should have success in a talent-rich state.
