CBS journalist John Dickerson is expected to replace Charlie Rose on CBS This Morning, filling the role left open after Rose's firing for sexual misconduct. "Gayle and Norah continue to show tremendous leadership on our morning broadcast each day".
He joins fellow hosts Norah O'Donnell and Gayle King on the daytime talk show. He will start on January 10 and will be based in NY. On Jan. 2, NBC announced live on the air that Today veteran Hoda Kotb would officially join Savannah Guthrie at the show's anchor desk.

Mr. Dickerson - whose mother, Nancy Dickerson, became in 1960 the first female correspondent at CBS News - plans to move to NY and leave "Face the Nation", which he joined in 2015. "He's the flawless complement to Gayle and Norah and will help us continue the momentum CBS This Morning has achieved over the last six years". King and O'Donnell also released statements revealing their excitement to welcome Dickerson to the team.
While no surprise - Dickerson has had a successful run at "Nation" since 2015 - this move does represent a return to a traditional morning TV format. Will the addition of Dickerson cause new viewers to sample the show and help grow the overall audience?
Dickerson has enjoyed a fairly quick rise among the CBS News ranks in recent years. Last year Scott Pelley stepped down from the "CBS Evening News;" after an interim period led by Anthony Mason, Jeff Glor took over the newscast last month. CBS is third behind NBC's "Today" and "Good Morning America" in viewership but has made steady progress in ratings and reputation since it was launched with Rose, O'Donnell and King six years ago.
