Revenue climbed 12 percent to $28.92 billion, beating analysts' expectations of $28.40 billion. Columbia Sportswear also intends to use Dynamics 365 and Azure to gain greater consumer insights and business intelligence through every consumer interaction, whether through its wholesale businesses, brick-and-mortar retail stores, ecommerce experiences or mobile channels. Sales in the quarter climbed 12% to $28.9bn, exceeding the average analyst estimate of $28.4bn.
Microsoft's quarterly profit has been hit hard after the software giant took a massive financial charge relating to a change in USA tax law. LinkedIn witnessed a growth of over 20% and contribution of $1.3 billion.
Microsoft reported that Server products and cloud services revenue increased 18% (up 18% in constant currency) driven by strong Azure revenue growth of 98% (up 98% in constant currency).
But factoring in a one-time accounting charge of $13.8 billion related to the Trump administration's new tax bill targeting corporate cash held overseas, Microsoft reported a loss of $0.82 per share.
Dynamics also saw strong growth, with products and cloud services up 10% (9% CC), and Dynamics 365 up 67% (68% CC).
Intelligent Cloud had revenue of $7.8B (+15%). The company's stock was up 2.45 percent in regular trading, but down about 1 percent in after-hours trading.

Looking at other hardware, Microsoft said that sales of its Surface products were largely unchanged from the previous year - despite the introduction of new hybrid Surface laptops.
Gaming revenue grew 8% thanks to having the Xbox One X on the market for the three months ending in December 2017.
CEO Satya Nadella highlighted Microsoft's investment in IoT, AI and cloud as key to the growth.
