ZenFone 5Z and ZenFone 5 are the first-ever models to have Artificial Intelligence (AI) and feature "all-screen" displays with a 90 per cent screen-to-body ratio. All we know is that they'll arrive at some point this year. It ships with Android Nougat and not Oreo as some might have been expecting.
The starting price of the Zenfone 5Z will be 479 Euros which is approximately Rs. 38,000.
Back in 2014, Asus kicked off its Zenfone journey in India with the Zenfone 5 which went on to become one of the highest selling budget smartphones. At the rear, there is a horizontally-aligned dual rear camera setup on the top left corner and a circular fingerprint scanner which is positioned towards the center. On the rear, there is a dual camera setup with the 16MP primary sensor and wide-angle secondary sensor. On the front, there is a 20MP sensor coupled with a wide angle lens as well. The sensors are Sony IMX363 which provide different apertures and take flawless photographs. Asus has also done a good job to ensure that the notch that houses the front camera doesn't impact usability. On the front, you get an 8-megapixel sensor for clicking selfies and video calling. The company is also touting a Face Unlock feature. Connectivity features include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, NFC and GPS/A-GPS. A 3,300mAh non-removable battery is included inside of this smartphone and it is boosted by the ASUS BoostMaster and AI charging, says the company. It also has AI-powered smart charging, where it learns when you need to charge the phone fast, and when it can slow down the charging in case you're going to connect it for a long time.
The ZenFone 5Z will debut in June, according to Asus. Inside the device is sitting an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon custom Kryo based Snapdragon 845 mobile platform. The device runs Android Oreo with Asus ZenUI 5.0. Not only is AI Display present, but so is AI Boot for better performance during gaming. The Zenfone 5Z comes in 4GB/6GB/8GB RAM and 64GB/128GB/256GB internal storage variants. Additionally, it will also be available in 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage, and 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. This isn't anything new at the top end of the market, but it's an innovation that's yet to appear in the mid-range that the ZenFone 5 is targeting.
