The I-Pace is much more compact vehicle than the Pacifica, and will be a more elegant way to travel. However, one of Uber's autonomous vehicles was recently at center of the first fatality resulting from a self-driving vehicle mishap.
Customers will be able to hail a self-driving I-PACE starting in late 2018 in Phoenix, Arizona.
It is not yet clear why Uber's self-driving vehicle did not detect 49-year-old Elaine Herzberg as she crossed the road with her bicycle. Yes, Jaguar now has access to far more driverless tech than before - but Waymo has now unlocked a thousands strong fleet of EVs, and with that miles and miles of data and experience. The service will roll out in a 100 square-mile radius - about one-sixth the size of the metropolitan area - growing to 600 square miles later on.
Waymo appears to be moving very quickly with its plans and earlier this month posted a video of Early Riders enjoying (or sleeping through) their first lifts in a self-driving auto.
Last year, the company's vehicles drove 2 million autonomous miles across 25 U.S. cities - putting its total autonomous miles at 4 million.
Waymo, named for a new way forward in mobility, was formerly the Google self-driving vehicle project. Without resorting to flash and drama during his presentation, Krafcik still left no doubt about what Waymo thinks of its partnership with Jaguar.

Under the agreement, Alphabet Inc.'s Waymo will integrate its self-driving system into Jaguar's I-Pace electric SUVs, the first all-electric offering from the luxury unit of China's Tata Motors Ltd.
This isn't the first time Jaguar Land Rover has shown off its self-driving skills. The company will use a new Jaguar luxury electric auto called the I-Pace.
Waymo's safety records on the road come from extensive testing on both the real and virtual world.
Waymo, the autonomous-car company spun out of Google, announced a new alliance on Tuesday that would vastly expand its effort to ramp up a driverless ride service over the next two years. It was among the earliest to have launched testing. It is all-new from the ground up and is a no compromise, desirable and practical electric performance auto.
Jaguar Land Rover plans to start delivering the vehicles in 2020.
To date, Waymo is the only company with a fleet of fully self-driving cars - with no one in the front seat - on public roads. A spokesman said no firm plans were yet in place to operate a similar ride-hailing service in the UK.
"At Waymo, we've been building the world's most experienced driver: a safe, skillful and savvy chauffeur that can take people and things from A to B at the push of a button", the company wrote.
