Kono met Wang in China in January when he became the first Japanese foreign minister to visit the country in almost two years.
The Japan-China High-Level Economic Dialogue was being held Monday in Tokyo for the first time since August 2010.
Mr Wang met his Japanese counterpart, Mr Taro Kono, in talks expected to touch on economic relations, territorial disputes in the East China Sea and ways to push North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons.
While ties between Tokyo and Beijing have a troubled history, relations seem to have strengthened following Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's diplomatic visit in January.
In a background briefing on Abe's visit Friday, the official, who asked not to be named, said the meetings at Trump's personal resort Mar-a-Lago in Florida would start in the afternoon on April 17 with a one-on-one meeting, followed by a small-group discussion that will include some of their top national security officials.
Noting that this year marks 40 years since the signing of a bilateral peace and friendship treaty, Kono said he and Wang agreed to work for the improvement of bilateral relations across the board.Читайте также: Nigeria move up in Federation Internationale de Football Association rankings as World Cup opponents drop
Wang's arrival in Tokyo comes ahead of a summit between the two Koreas this month and a meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and U.S. President Donald Trump.
The world's second and third largest economies have a fraught relationship, complicated by longstanding maritime disputes and Japan's wartime legacy.
Wang, a former ambassador to Japan, said his visit was China's response to "positive" messages and policies from Tokyo but acknowledged "some complex and sensitive elements". Mr Kono stressed that Japan and China share the same goal on North Korea.
"After the US withdrawal, Japan, recognising the significance of free trade, has led the initiative in pulling together the TPP 11", Aso said, referring to the other members of the pact.
"I hope we can take an important step toward putting bilateral relations back on the track of normal development soon, and I would be happy for us to discuss, set conditions and make preparations for high-level exchange between our countries", Wang replied.При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
