Montgomery County police on Tuesday identified the three slain victims in the shooting at a Brookeville home and the suspect who later took his own life.
Police were sent to the house on Brown Farm way about 4:30 p.m.to investigate the report of a domestic disturbance.
According to a police press conference, Mr. Snyder had held his wife hostage over the weekend at their home at 22001 Brown Farm Way in Brookeville, Maryland. The wife and the two others were able to escape unharmed. Shortly after police officers eventually broke down the door and entered the home, the suspect fatally shot himself.
Snyder later killed himself with a self-inflicted gunshot wound after fleeing Olson's home and returning to his own, where police attempted to secure his surrender during several hours of phone negotiations.

The barricade ended at 11 p.m. Monday, and when police breached Snyder's door, he committed suicide. "First responders came to the scene, they located multiple fatalities and backed out of the house believing it was not safe", said Capt. Paul Starks of Montgomery County Police Department. "At that point, officers who were outside the home heard a single gunshot", Manger said. The three weren't the only ones there at the time of the shooting, however. One was Snyder's wife, police say.
The suspect was reportedly known to police. Snyder also mentioned he had explosives in his house during his talks with the negotiator and hence, the police continued to search his property late into the night.
