A month after his security status was downgraded, it was revealed that the special counsel investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 USA presidential election, Robert Mueller, had taken an interest in Kushner's business affairs, including his attempts to gain refinancing of his family's flagship property at 666 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan from foreign entities.
Kushner sat down with investigators for special counsel Robert Mueller for at least the second time last month, said a source familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the criminal investigation.
The FBI has now finished their file on Kushner and delivered it to the White House personnel security office.
"With respect to the news about his clearances, as we stated before, his application was properly submitted, reviewed by numerous career officials and underwent the normal process", Kushner's attorney Abbe Lowell said in a statement.
Federal Bureau of Investigation background checks for security clearances routinely examine an applicant's financial holdings and foreign contacts.
The FBI completed its thorough investigation of Kushner's financial activities and foreign contacts, a task taking more than a year and which had to be finalized before the husband of Trump's oldest child Ivanka could re-obtain permission to access the most closely guarded U.S. secrets, Efe reported.

China's Didi Chuxing to Test Self-Driving Cars in California
Behind Apple is Alphabet's Waymo which now has 51 self-driving vehicles and Elon Musk-owned Tesla which has 39 cars. It started out with just 3 registered cars in April previous year , and that number has now expanded to 55.
Investigators also asked Kushner about his role in Comey's dismissal, Lowell said, which is a central part of the obstruction inquiry.
Kushner, married to Trump's eldest daughter and fellow White House senior adviser Ivanka, saw his top-level clearance revoked earlier this year after chief of staff John Kelly instituted a new policy that also saw others have their clearances downgraded. That meant Kushner was able to see information only at the lower "secret" level, but not highly classified information. "Having completed all of these processes, he is looking to continue to do the work the President has asked him to do".
Kushner attended a meeting in June 2016 with a Russian at Trump Tower during the campaign in an attempt to get disparaging information on Hillary Clinton, and he attempted to set up a "back channel" to the Kremlin during the presidential transition.
Lowell told Newsweek that Kushner was one of the first to cooperate in any investigation involving the Trump campaign.
The White House said in February that Kushner's loss of top secret clearance would not affect his diplomatic activities, and apparently it has not done so.
