Of course, NBC snatched up Brooklyn Nine-Nine just one day later after Fox lowered the ax last week, but the Fox team was still asked to explain its moves. During this week's Fox Upfront presentations, network heads Dana Walden and Gary Newman spoke about the surprise revival and cancellations.
The other new sitcom stars a more recent addition to the comedy world - Lil Rel Howery, fresh off his scene-stealing role in last year's Get Out. Though the NBC show's rating gave them pause this year, Fox's original interest in the show didn't have anything to do with Roseanne. It performed best in our Sunday night lineup.
Walden said Fox wanted to instead boost the profile of Emmy-winning animated series "Bob's Burgers", which has been on the air since 2011. "So once we made that decision, it just limited the opportunities we had to schedule Brooklyn, and ultimately we decided we just didn't have room for it with Thursday night football going into the fall".
Fox programmers are going with a conservative game plan this fall with the addition of Thursday night National Football League games. We were trying to create a more cohesive program, and scheduling Brooklyn would prevent us from promoting something new.
"We're really happy that it's found a new home", she said.
Trivia Tuesday: NBA Lottery picks from non-power schools
The team will have an 8.4 percent chance of receiving the seventh pick and a 0.4 percent chance of receiving the eighth pick. Crazier stuff has happened, though, and adding another blue-chip prospect to either one of these teams seems nearly unfair.

If you would like to help THPD's fundraiser, you can purchase a bracelet at the Terre Haute Police Department's records room. Then an officer presented the young LAD with his own SWAT shirt as he made his way to the door of Sullivan Elementary School.
In other words: We're so glad the show we broke up with met somebody else! The reality is, the fans of Last Man Standing wouldn't leave this alone. As critically-acclaimed as Brooklyn Nine-Nine was, it averaged less than 3 million viewers a week.
"Obviously everyone took a good hard look at the performance of [that show]".
FOX's prime-time slate for the 2018-19 season sees Last Man Standing, formerly an ABC comedy, revived with an 8 p.m. slot on Fridays, while the hit Ryan Murphy procedural 9-1-1 moves to a new night and time on Mondays at 9 p.m. It had nothing to do with Roseanne that we were interested in the first place.
Last Man Standing, which was previously canceled by ABC, will have all-new episodes airing on FOX on Friday nights. We always wondered how it would do if it was given a better opportunity and prioritised more, in terms of a network's marketing agenda.
