Vault 76 was originally created to open only 20 years after the nukes wiped out the world (as opposed to the 200 years later that Fallout 3 and 4 took place in), which would make the world far less civilized and hostile, enabling Bethesda's ability to tie online survival elements into the game.
On May 29, Bethesda-the publisher of the Fallout series from 2008 and the Elder Scrolls games-started a Twitch stream showing nothing but a Vault Boy statue standing in front of a screen saying "Please stand by". In a day and age where we have survival MMORPG's like RUST and ARK online, a FALLOUT RPG seems like a no-brainer. In the meantime, we can speculate on what it might be, bolstered by some info anonymously given to Kotaku. According to leaks, this big-budget theme analog games like Rust and DayZ. That is why, for now, it is best that you take this information with a grain of salt and that you expect an official announcement.
But let's assume for a moment that they're true.

Would you play an online Fallout game or do you think that Fallout 76 should have been Fallout New Vegas 2 and developed by Obsidian? Both games sowed the seeds of an idea for a survival sim set in the universe. I'm also hoping it's a major refining of the building tools, because I always thought the interface was seriously awkward to use. For starters (and, again, assuming the rumors are true), the game will be set less than thirty years after the bombs drop, as opposed to centuries later.
As for what can be expected from Vault 76, previous games have actually hinted at the details with regards to this particular vault. If the later games in the series are any indication, that didn't go so well well the residents of Vault 76.
Discounting the first two entries in the series (which everyone else already does, anyway), Fallout 3 was released to huge critical and commercial acclaim back in 2008. While I personally enjoyed Fallout Shelter, I won't be shelling out $60 to build specialty vaults when the season pass of Fallout 4 allows you to do the same time.
