It's official: the Duchess of Sussex has made her debut appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony at Trooping the Colour 2018.

They joined The Queen, her in-laws, Prince William, Kate Middleton, their children, Prince Charles and Camilla.

According to PEOPLE, the short sleeve dress marks a stray from tradition, as the ladies of the royal family typically opt for long sleeve options at the annual Trooping the Colour.

In her first engagement after marrying Prince Harry, the Duchess of Sussex abandoned her usual fashion-forward outfits for a more prim and proper look.

The duke and duchess will follow in the footsteps of Prince Harry's parents, Charles and Diana, whose first overseas tour after their marriage also took in Australia and New Zealand.

She also received some help from Samantha Cohen, an Australian-born palace adviser who has worked closely with the Queen.
