Three people in San Antonio managed to walk out of an aquarium with a baby shark, but the shark was safely returned Monday night.
In what appeared to be a premeditated heist, two men and one woman approached the open tank at the San Antonio Aquarium and fished out a horn shark, KSAT TV reports. They then took the shark into a back room, put it in a bucket and put the entire bucket into a pram.
"He said the water was dripping because they had spilled a Yeti cup onto the stroller and they were leaving in such a hurry because their baby that was with them needed medication".
The San Antonio Aquarium later expressed hope that the small shark would "recover fully from the shock, and return to her home she is used to".
The shark theft occurred Saturday afternoon and was caught on tape, from start to finish, by the aquarium's surveillance cameras.
The shark and stroller were placed in a 4-door maroon Chevrolet Silverado truck, police say. The trio are accused of stealing a 16-inch-long Horn shark after pouring a bucket of bleach into the aquarium's cold water exhibit filtration system. It said the solution caused "harm to other wildlife" and added, "If it weren't for the fast acting experienced staff, the bleach would have done more damage".
