In the UFC 226 main event, UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic put his title on the line against reigning light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier in Las Vegas. Cormier and Miocic stood toe-to-toe and traded hands throughout.
Lewis took the unanimous decision with scores of 29-28, 29-28, 30-27, but the victory will have done nothing for his world title hopes after one of the worst UFC fights in recent memory. He is now only the second fighter in UFC history to hold two divisional belts simultaneously.
"I am 39 years old, and I've been second a lot of times, but today I finally accomplish everything".
Instead of letting Cormier, who has always been an exemplary representative for the company, bask in his much-deserved moment, the UFC allowed the post-fight festivities to devolve into a poorly executed WWE promo, starring none other than Brock Lesnar.
"Push me now, you going to sleep later", Cormier said.
"[Francis] Ngannou is a piece of shit, Miocic is a piece of shit". Miocic is a piece of shit.
Wolverhampton pub erupts as England beat Colombia
Is it really coming home? And celebrations in Moscow and the West Midlands continued long into the early hours. Brazil remain favourites at 11/4, while Harry Kane is odds-on at 1/4 to bring home the coveted Golden Boot.
England fans wasted so much beer celebrating Harry Kane's goal vs. Colombia
Kane's strike also sees the 24-year-old match Lionel Messi's total record of World Cup goals, on his debut at the tournament. England finished second in Group G after a promising start saw them beat Tunisia with a late victor and thrash Panama 6-1.
Japan hailed for leaving dressing room, stadium clean after losing to Belgium
This year was only the second time in history that the team made it through the group stages to the final sixteen. Four years ago, Hazard's then manager at Chelsea Jose Mourinho said: "Ronaldo and Messi are Ronaldo and Messi".
"DC, I'm coming for you motherf-ker", Lesnar said in the cage before throwing the mic into the camera. Lesnar's one-year ban for a failed drugs test surrounding his last UFC fight against Mark Hunt ended last year.
Not only did Lesnar embarrass both the sport and the promotion with his positive test two years ago, the same week that he called Jon Jones' positive test days earlier "unprofessional", he also never even attempted to give an excuse (or an interview, for that matter). "I never knew what I could become, but tonight I got the answer".
He is in Vegas for Saturday night's UFC 226 event.
"We're definitely going to make that fight", White said of Cormier and Lesnar.
White said "Yes", on Thursday when asked by Yahoo Sports if he expected Lesnar to return. "I don't know where they are in the process but he is going to pop up on the board here soon".
