The update came after Beijing announced Meng Hongwei was under investigation in China.
On Saturday, the worldwide police agency urged China to clarify Mr Meng's status, saying it was concerned about the well-being of its president. It did not say why.
Mr Meng, who is also China's vice-minister of public security, is one of a lengthening list of politicians, officials and celebrities to have fallen foul of...
Interpol said later that Meng had resigned as president of the organisation, and that South Korean national Kim Jong Yang would become its acting president, while it would appoint a new president at a November 18-21 meeting of the organisation in Dubai.
